Showing Up
This Women’s Day, across studios, retail spaces, and even a yacht overlooking the Mumbai harbour, women chose their Stance.
From a yoga masterclass led by actor and long-time yoga practitioner Vidya Malavade as part of Shoppers Stop’s Unstoppable Her campaign, to community gatherings with partners including Mercedes-Benz, Luma Fertility, and experiences hosted at Jio World Drive, the week became a celebration of movement, strength, and shared experience. Across these different spaces, one idea quietly connected them all: the decision to show up.
The Strength of Consistency
For many women, making time for movement is rarely straightforward. Between work, family responsibilities, and the constant pace of city life, moments dedicated to personal wellbeing can easily slip down the priority list. Yet the simple act of showing up for oneself—whether for a yoga session, a walk, or a moment of stillness—often becomes the foundation of lasting strength. It is through these consistent, intentional choices that resilience is built.
A Morning with Vidya Malavade
The yoga masterclass with Vidya Malavade captured this spirit beautifully. With over a decade of teaching experience and a deeply rooted yoga practice, she guided guests through breath-led movement, balance, and controlled strength. The session unfolded with a calm and grounded energy that gradually transformed the room into a space of focus and presence. Women with different levels of experience arrived, yet the shared rhythm of breath and movement created an immediate sense of connection.
Movement in Unexpected Places
Throughout the week, similar moments appeared in settings that might not traditionally be associated with movement. On a yacht with Mercedes-Benz, overlooking the Mumbai harbour, conversations around wellbeing and lifestyle took place against a striking backdrop. In collaboration with Luma Fertility, the focus shifted toward the role of movement in supporting women’s health and balance through different stages of life. Experiences at Jio World Drive and Shoppers Stop demonstrated how retail environments themselves can become gathering spaces where people come together around shared interests and values.
Choosing Your Stance
Women’s Day is often marked by conversations about empowerment and resilience. Yet the most meaningful expressions of strength are often quieter and deeply personal. They appear in the choice to prioritise wellbeing, to step into a room full of strangers for a shared practice, or simply to make time for movement in the middle of a busy life. Across many spaces in Mumbai this Women’s Day, women did exactly that. In studios, stores, and unexpected locations across the city, they chose to show up—and in doing so, they chose their Stance.
